I was reading this review of the Keys to the Future Festival which is taking place this week at Le Poisson Rouge and wishing I were there. Now in its 5th year, 10 pianists are playing 29 works by contemporary classical composers.
Here Lisa Moore performs Frederic Rzewski’s Piano Piece No. 4 (1979) at Keys to the Future Festival 2/28/08.
Contemporary music always surprises and challenges the boundaries of the known. Great to see this blog. I was very fortunate to attend a talk by Rzewski at Amsterdam Conservatory followed by a concert premiering a new piece of his. Recently I bought a CD of his “People United Won’t Be Defeated” played by Ralph van Raat, who was in the audience. http://concertblog.wordpress.com/2010/03/21/rzewski-calefax/
